Deep Dish German Pancake
Rustic charm ... German glory.
If you enjoy individual German Pancakes, try this recipe to serve the entire family at once!
Ingredients:
3-4 Tbsp butter, cut into pieces
6 eggs
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place butter in 13x9 baking dish. Place in cold oven and allow butter to heat to sizzling.
In the meantime, whisk together remaining ingredients in a medium bowl (or in the blender). When butter is melted and sizzling (about the time it takes for oven to heat up), pour batter into baking dish and bake 18-20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown (bake until the pancake puffs up around the edges - it may not puff evenly every time).
Add your favorite topping(s). Cut into squares and serve immediately. Once out of the oven, the pancake will begin to deflate - so enjoy the beauty quickly!
Topping suggestions:
Lemon juice
Powdered sugar
Maple syrup
Fresh fruit
Fruit sauce
Butter
Jam
NOTE: For half the recipe, use a 8x8 baking dish. Use the same cooking temp and time.
